The sun had just broke the horizon and streaks of gold and yellow colored the early morning sky. So far, it looked like it was going to be a clear day as only a few wisps of clouds were stretched thin high above. Hailstorm, female Alpha of The Black Mountain Pack, was sitting just outside of her freshly dug den as she watched the rising of the sun. They'd arrived in their new territory about a week ago, having spent a few days scouting the lands before laying down territory markers. So, in truthfulness they had only been settled for a few days. Hailstorm's thoughts wandered to different subjects...she was nervous about whether it had been the right decision to move or not but she couldn't justify to herself leaving her pack in a dangerous swampland. Her parents had died out there, let alone who knows who else? Then she thought of the few that followed her...which reminded her that WindFall was about due for her Dreaming. For all she knew she could be overdue, with the latest happenings she hadn't kept track. Well...Wind Feather was the one to take care of that anyways, she'd know when it was the right time. These lands...they were so fresh and untouched. Her mind whirled, wondering of the abundance of prey that must be here. The forests and plains were lush and green, the rivers clear and sparkling, there had been a lot of good sign when they'd scouted the lands that there was a large abundance of prey here.
Then there was that pack across the river. When they'd stopped and looked at their lands from The Steep Walls on their journey she couldn't help but notice one prime hunting ground. Large prey flocked there, as it had some wooded patches for security but was mostly open plains with an abundance of favored food and was almost completely bordered by a water source. There was a large lake on one side and a winding river on another...the side that separated Black Mountain lands from their lands. Prime ground, yet it all belonged to the other pack. Hailstorm sniffed against the chill morning air, ears flicking at the first sounds of the birds' morning songs. What they had would do for now, but when the pack grew...and Hailstorm intended on laying low until they did...perhaps they would take a stab at claiming some of that hunting ground for themselves. She'd speak to Summit Shadow about it sometime today.
